Turning 40

On Friday I turned 40. Turning 40 didn’t bother me as much as turning 30. I can’t say it’s been an easy fall season with Gurney dying, but I enjoyed my birthday and I’m fairly content with where I’m at in life.

My parents got me a Blackstone griddle for and it is fantastic! I’ve cooked a load of meals on it already. I actually got it a couple weeks ago and I enjoy it quite a lot.

When Gurney died I had ordered a piece of memorial jewelry. It came a couple days before my birthday, so in a way, Gurney was with me for that milestone. It’s a pretty brown stone the color his eyes were. The necklace came from Sugar Oh Honey Honey.

M sent me things off of my Amazon wish list, so of course I liked those! He got me an A4 document organizer that I am experimenting with as a planner cover (I think it might end up being better used as an embroidery project pouch), a new cat/dog fountain that has a better design than my old one, and a sign that says “Every thing is going to be ok”.

Thursday was my last day of work before my vacation started. Mom made cupcakes to take in to the office-white cake, strawberry filling, buttercream icing, and sprinkles. They were delicious and everyone loved them!

Cathy and I went out Thursday night. It was the first time we’d seen each other since spring of 2020 due to the pandemic. We went to Jo-Ann’s then stopped into Petsmart so I could pick up a couple things for Davis. We had dinner on the patio at Blaze (wood fired pizza). She gifted me a Starbucks Mug from Japan and a glittery custom pen with my name and the Harry Potter deathly hallows symbol. I love them both!

Ben sent me a package from Knit Picks. It contained three skeins of Simply Alpaca Aran in the colorway Alexis. It’s super soft in a black-brown color. I think I’ve found a pattern for a cowl that will suit it well.

For myself I made a big purchase at Knit Picks as well as picking up a few things at the local yarn store (Fiberworks) in Dayton. I’ll have another post later this week about that.

I’m off work through the 25th, so I’m hoping to have a relaxing time crafting with my new supplies, cooking, and spending a few days at the lake.
